Philip is North Yorkshire born and bred, living briefly in Starbeck before moving with his parents to Knaresborough.

He attended King James’ School Knaresborough, and later studied law in Leeds as a mature student, graduating with an LLB. Hons. He subsequently completed a mini MBA at Salford University in 2017. Philip is also a qualified GDPR practitioner.

After working in Office Equipment, Philip moved into IT and was responsible for launching the Schneider range of computers into the UK. He subsequently went onto found his own business, Allott and Associates Ltd – a specialist PR and B2B marketing agency, which he established in 1993 and which now operates internationally. He is also a non-executive director of HMCA PLC. Following Philip’s election to the role of Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire, he has stood down as managing director of Allott and Associates Ltd (although remains a shareholder) to concentrate on his new PFCC role.

After serving in the TA, Philip began his political career in his hometown where at the age of just 25, he was elected the Country’s youngest Mayor. Philip’s political experience includes nine years as a senior Harrogate District Councillor and subsequently became leader of the Conservative Group.
