The Fire Standards Board are pleased to announce the next Fire Standard which is shared with services and all stakeholders for consultation.

Forming part of the suite of Fire Standards that relate to service delivery, the Emergency Preparedness and Resilience Fire Standard is now open for consultation until 21 February 2022. You can find out how to take part on the Consultations page

This standard accompanies the three Operational Response Fire Standards, the Prevention and Protection Fire Standards which were produced last year. They can be found on the Approved Fire Standards page.

In a summary of other news, the Safeguarding Fire Standard is scheduled for publication later this month. The Fire Investigation Fire Standard is undergoing Quality Assurance post-consultation and work is progressing with the Data and the Leadership Fire Standards.

The Board met in December to review progress and to consider the remaining areas of activity where Fire Standards may be appropriate. These areas include:

  • Environment and sustainability
  • Communication, engagement, consultation
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Resources (including procurement, contract management, commercial activities, fleet management, estates and asset management)
  • Assurance
  • Digital and Technology

Work to research these areas more thoroughly will be undertaken during the first few months of 2022.

The Board wish to thank all who support development work, take part in peer reviews and respond to its consultations.
