Safeguarding Fire Standard
The NFCC’s Safeguarding Workstream has delivered a number of guidance documents and a self-assessment tool to enable services to assure and improve their capability in this area. We are grateful for all the feedback we received through the consultation, all of which has been considered. We have provided an explanation and rationale for the changes made in the table below.

The NFCC Prevention Programme is in the process of developing guidance to support services and more will follow over the coming months. Safeguarding Fire Standard

The Fire Standards Board has announced the launch of its ninth professional Fire Standard; Safeguarding
The Safeguarding Fire Standard aims to ensure that fire and rescue services are doing all that they can to support safeguarding. Its desired outcome is that services work proactively to promote the safeguarding of those within their communities as well as employees and volunteers, reducing the risk of abuse, harm and neglect.
Fire Standards Board – What’s coming up in 2022
A further seven Fire Standards are currently in development by the Fire Standards Board. These include Safeguarding; Fire Investigation; Emergency Preparedness and Resilience; and Data, as well as three Leadership Fire Standards.
