Delivery plan for the first phase of Fire Standards announced
Having been established in 2019, the Fire Standards Board has been busy determining how it will work, agreeing the process for developing Fire Standards, deciding what a Fire Standard will contain; identifying the range of Fire Standards to be developed and those Fire Standards that will be included in the initial cohort of published Fire Standards.
Excellent response to the consultation on an Emergency Response Driver Fire Standard
The Fire Standards Board’s consultation on its first proposed Fire Standard focused on the important area of emergency response driving.
Making sense of Standards
“The absence of existing national standards has resulted in local variations in almost every aspect of what each fire and rescue service does.” This is the conclusion made by HMICFRS in their tranche 1 summary report of the first inspections in 12 years. It’s helpful then that a Fire Standards Board is now in place to deal with the issues and provide some reassurance to the inspectors that inconsistency is being tackled head on.
